Congress and State Department Giving Away Money We Don't Have, To the UN!

Here we are setting record debts in this country, mortgaging our children and grand children's financial future and at the same time giving money away at a massive rate to help fund abortions worldwide!

This just in from the Family Research Council...

"Yesterday, for the first time in eight years, the State Department released $50 million to the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), an organization linked to China's one-child policy and coerced abortions. Unsatisfied by the $50 million mark, House members, led by Louise Slaughter (D-N.Y.), are asking Congress to give UNFPA and other international "family planning" efforts a major funding boost. In a letter to ranking members of the Foreign Operations Subcommittee, they ask for an increase of $530 million."

Conscience Protections Threatened, Public Comment Critical!

On February 27, the Obama Administration announced its intention to remove current regulations (implemented by the Bush Administration in December 2008) protecting conscience rights in health care. On March 10, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) then issued a formal proposal to rescind these regulations, thereby activating a 30-day period for the public to submit comments.

The National Committee for a Human Life Amendment (NCHLA) has devised an Action Alert (nchla.org/actiondisplay.asp?ID=271) explaining why the regulations should be retained and providing directions on how to submit comments. E-mail messages can be sent directly through the NCHLA Action Center. A preset message is provided, to which the sender can add personal comments. Please submit your comments before the April 9 deadline!

In addition, the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops has set up a special site with resources on conscience protection, including a link to the NCHLA Action Center message. See www.usccb.org/conscienceprotection. Parishes are encouraged to display this link on their webpages.

Highlighting the critical importance of the current conscience regulations, Cardinal Francis George, President of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, said they are "one part of the range of legal protections for health care workers - for doctors, nurses and others - who have objections in conscience to being involved in abortion and other killing procedures that are against how they live their faith in God." Cardinal George expressed concern that removing these conscience regulations "would be the first step in moving our country from democracy to despotism."

Prince William County Republican Convention (Part 4)

Continuing its strong Pro Life support, the Prince William County Republican Convention passed the following resolution almost unanimously, again with only two dissenting votes, at the Convention on 14 March 2009.

Resolution #4. March 14, 2009

RESOLUTION TO KEEP THE RIGHT TO LIFE PLANK IN THE REPUBLICAN PARTY PLATFORM

Whereas, in the spirit of America's founding document, the Declaration of Independence, and as Delegates to the Prince William County Convention to the Republican Party of Virginia, we reaffirm the self evident truth that "all men...are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights; that among these are life..."

Whereas, Thomas Jefferson wrote that, "The care of human life and happiness and not their destruction is the first and only legitimate object of good government." President George W. Bush in the proclamation for the National Sanctity of Human Life Day 2002 stated, "President Jefferson was right. Life is an inalienable right, understood as given to each of us by our Creator."

Whereas, we uphold the principle that every human being, from conception to natural death, has a fundamental individual right to life, which cannot be infringed.

Whereas, The Declaration further states: "That to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men..."

Now, therefore be it resolved, that members of the Prince William County Republican Convention, in the tradition of our Founding Fathers, and in an effort to once again secure the right to life, we reaffirm our support to keep the Right To Life Plank in the Republican Party Platform.

Prince William County Republican Convention (Part 3)

In a strong showing of support for State Party Chairman Jeff Frederick, the Price William County Republican Convention passed the following resolution unanimously.

Resolution (3) March 14, 2009

Resolution in support of RPV Chairman Jeff Frederick

Whereas, the Prince William County Republican Convention believes that the strength of the Republican Party comes from the grassroots up, not the top down.

Whereas, the Plan of Organization of the Republican Party of Virginia essentially dissolves the party organization every two or four years and reconstitutes all of its committees by the vote of each jurisdiction’s mass meeting or convention.

Whereas, in May 2008, the Prince William County Republicans selected Jeff Frederick as their party chairman with 84 percent of the Prince William delegation’s vote.

Now, Therefore, be resolved, that the Prince William County Republican Convention:

1. Fully endorses and supports the Republican Party of Virginia Chairman Jeff Frederick.

2. We call on Republicans across the Commonwealth to focus on the elections at hand. Chairman Frederick is doing the job he was elected to do, namely to make the state party the servant of the local unit and not its master.

3. We call on the State Central Committee and senatorial caucus to also fully endorse Chairman Jeff Frederick and assist him unconditionally to retake the Commonwealth of Virginia for the Republican Party.

Prince William County Republican Convention (Part 2)

The Prince William County Republican Convention further showed its strong support for life by again passing the following resolution almost unanimously, with only two dissenting votes at the convention held 14 March 2009.

Resolution (2) March 14, 2009

RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF ETHICAL STEM CELL RESEARCH

Whereas, the Prince William County Republican Convention believes that human embryos are complete human beings at the earliest stages of development and, as such, they deserve respect and protection.

Whereas, human embryos are human subjects who, under the Nuremberg Code of medical ethics, may not be subjected to medical or scientific experiments unless those experiments will benefit them, and will not expose them to the threat of injury or death.

Now, Therefore, be resolved, that the Prince William County Republican Party:

1. Appeal to the President and to Congress to institute a total ban on stem cell research that involves the killing of human embryos.

2. We also urge the President and Congress to encourage scientific research that utilizes adult stem cells and/or stem cells derived from umbilical cord blood and placentas that are recovered after live births because unlike embryonic stem cells, they have produced positive results in the treatment and cure of disease without violating fundamental principles of morality and ethics.

Prince William County Republican Convention (Part 1)

The following resolution was passed almost unanimously, with only two dissenting votes, at the Prince William County Republican Convention held in Manassas, VA on 14 March 2009.

Resolution (1) March 14, 2009

RESOLUTION CONCERNING THE RIGHT TO LIFE
UNDER THE U.S. CONSTITUTION

Whereas, the Republican Party of Virginia believes that all human life must be respected and safeguarded from conception to natural death.

Whereas, the members of the Prince William County Republican Convention agree, that upon conception a human being has been created and that an unborn child has a fundamental individual right to life as a human being

Now, therefore, be it resolved, that as members of the Prince William County Republican Convention:

1. We support a human life amendment to the U.S. Constitution

2. We endorse legislation making clear that the Fourteenth Amendment's protections apply to all persons from conception until death.

3. We oppose the use of public revenues for abortion or organizations that advocate it.

4. We affirm our support for the appointment of judges at all levels of the judiciary who agree that human life begins at conception.
