Prince William County Republican Convention (Part 4)
Continuing its strong Pro Life support, the Prince William County Republican Convention passed the following resolution almost unanimously, again with only two dissenting votes, at the Convention on 14 March 2009.
Resolution #4. March 14, 2009
RESOLUTION TO KEEP THE RIGHT TO LIFE PLANK IN THE REPUBLICAN PARTY PLATFORM
Whereas, in the spirit of America's founding document, the Declaration of Independence, and as Delegates to the Prince William County Convention to the Republican Party of Virginia, we reaffirm the self evident truth that "all men...are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights; that among these are life..."
Whereas, Thomas Jefferson wrote that, "The care of human life and happiness and not their destruction is the first and only legitimate object of good government." President George W. Bush in the proclamation for the National Sanctity of Human Life Day 2002 stated, "President Jefferson was right. Life is an inalienable right, understood as given to each of us by our Creator."
Whereas, we uphold the principle that every human being, from conception to natural death, has a fundamental individual right to life, which cannot be infringed.
Whereas, The Declaration further states: "That to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men..."
Now, therefore be it resolved, that members of the Prince William County Republican Convention, in the tradition of our Founding Fathers, and in an effort to once again secure the right to life, we reaffirm our support to keep the Right To Life Plank in the Republican Party Platform.
